「ニューヨークライフ」DVDリスニングセットは、"WORLD LINK"という書籍とDVDで構成されています。"WORLD LINK"は、世界有数のアメリカのELT(英語学習教材)の出版社が開発した英語学習者のための教材です。
日本語は一切入っておりませんが、使われている英語のほとんどが中学・高校で習った英語で難しくありません。このDVDを見ると「簡単な単語の組み合わせで、こんなに多くの表現ができるんだ！」と驚かれると思います。さらにわからない単語や表現があっても、ドラマ仕立ての物語であるため、会話の内容・流れがイメージでつかみやすくできています。１つのドラマが約3分間で英語学習用に作られていて、オチがあって見て面白く、楽しく学習を継続できるように工夫されています。
DVDは字幕（スクリプト）のON/OFFが可能です。テキスト（書籍）にも全会話のセリフが掲載され、聞き取りトレーニングに最適な教材です。 TOEICレベルでは250～600と幅広く設定されていますが、初級者の方は書籍のセリフ集（スクリプト）を読み、字幕付きのDVDを見て聞いて、英語に慣れるところからスタートしてみましょう。聞き取りができるようになれば、映画や海外ドラマなど字幕無しでストーリーを理解できる日も少しずつ近づいてきます。続けていれば英語の映画など字幕無しで楽しむことも夢ではありません。
